Dying Off the Fat of the Land

Posted By Stefan Monsaureus

A study released today by the American Cancer Society notes that more than half of all cancer deaths could be prevented through the adoption of a few simple lifestyle improvements. This bears out what was noted on this blog in A Simple Cure: that if we really wish to reduce the number of people dying from cancer and cardiovascular disease, we need only make a few better choices.

The ACS press release also points out the negative consequences of inadequate healthcare insurance and insufficient funding for important educational programs. Until we begin allocating our finite resources in some rational way, we will continue to be ineffective in saving lives.
